THE EARTHQUAKE

On the 7th of December 1988 a disastrous earthquake spanned almost a half of the territory of Armenia. The cities of Spitak, Leninakan, Kirovakan, Stepanavan, as well as more than other 300 towns, were completely destroyed. 25.000 people died, 19.000 became handicapped, more than half of a million left without a roof over their head. The natural disaster becomes a background for the story of two main characters, taking place in the town of Leninakan – a young man named Robert Melkonyan and an architect named Konstantin Berezhnoy. First time they’ve met years ago when Robert was just a kid: his parents had died in a car accident caused by Berezhnoy. Berezhnoy had spent several years in prison, while Robert was waiting for the right moment to get his personal revenge. Eventually Berezhnoy is being released from prison. He flies back to Leninakan to reunite with his family who’s been waiting for him for all these years, as well as Robert has. But the catastrophe interferes the exact same day, and plans of both Robert and Berezhnoy get derailed. By a twist of fate, heroes found themselves in the same rescue squad, but it takes a lot of time for both of them to realize who they really are.
