
Filming of the mystical detective story “Hotel by the Dying Alpine Climber” has begun in Moscow.
The film, based on the short story of the same name by the Strugatsky brothers, was directed by Alexander Domogarov Jr.

The film’s plot is set in Moscow in the 1930s. A famous writer at the peak of his career suddenly finds himself at the center of a literary scandal. The play based on his work is taken off the repertoire, his colleagues pointedly avoid meeting with him, and in a matter of days he becomes an outcast. Shortly after that, he meets Margarita, who becomes his beloved and muse. Inspired by her love and support, the writer begins work on a new novel, in which the characters are people from his social circle, and the main character is the enigmatic Woland, whose prototype was a recent foreign acquaintance of his. The writer immerses himself in the world of his novel and gradually stops noticing how fiction and reality merge into one.
